The Joint Commission of deputies and senators approved the report and Bill of Conversion of Provisional Measure No. 869/2018, which amended Law 13,709/2018 (General Law of Data Protection - LGPD).
The Bill provides safeguards for greater independence of the National Data Protection Agency (ANPD), such as the Senate's appointment of members, guarantees against their arbitrary removal and a fixed term of office.
The composition and attributions of the ANPD were also changed to be closer to the original text of the LGPD, vetoed at the time of publication, and addresses several other points not related to the Agency.
