Diversity: 50 years of the Stonewall uprising

Diversity is a subject that has been gaining more and more importance in the corporate world. The creation of a healthy and collaborative work environment, the elaboration of internal policies that structure a good company-employee relationship, the respect among its members and the support to diversity at work and in life, are guidelines that guide the culture of Barcellos Tucunduva Advogados.

This year in particular marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, which took place on June 28, 1969, in the United States, and is considered the inaugural milestone of the LGBT movement worldwide.

On that date, a police raid on the Stonewall Inn, one of New York's best-known gay bars, resulted in the arrests of staff and assaults on patrons, with consequent protests by the LGBT community that reverberated around the world.

In 2015, the New York City Council made the Stonewall Inn bar a city historic monument. A year later, under Barack Obama's administration, the bar became the first national monument dedicated to LGBT rights.

Barcellos Tucunduva supports any and all diversity and supports the rights of LGBT people, at work and in life."
