Change in the volume and deadlines for Electronic Money Issuing IPs to apply for authorization to operate at the Central Bank

BCB Resolution No. 257, of 11/16/2022, has just changed the volume and deadlines for submission to the Central Bank of the EME IPs contained in BCB Resolution 80/2021.

Stay tuned for new Volumetrics and Dates:

- between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2024:
(a) R$300,000,000.00 in payment transactions; or
b) R$30,000,000.00 in funds held in a prepaid payment account
- between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025:
(a) R$250,000,000.00 in payment transactions; or
b) R$25,000,000.00 in resources held in a prepaid payment account;
- Between January 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026
a) R$200,000,000.00 in payment transactions; or
b) R$20,000,000.00 in resources held in a prepaid payment account;
- between January 1, 2027 and December 31, 2027:
(a) R$150,000,000.00 in payment transactions; or
b) R$15,000,000.00 in resources held in a prepaid payment account;
- between January 1, 2028 and December 31, 2028, financial transactions exceeding at least one of the following amounts:
(a) R$100,000,000.00 in payment transactions; or
b) R$10,000,000.00 in funds held in a prepaid payment account; and
- until March 31, 2029, if it does not reach the financial transactions foreseen above.

Please note: The need for a prior authorization request for EME IPs that started operation after 03/01/2021 remains unchanged.

Finally, the new Resolution brought the exemption of the authorization request for SCDs, SEPs and SCMEPPs to perform the ITP activity.

The standard goes into effect on December 1⁰, 2022.
