International Women's Entrepreneurship Day: Interview with Simone Marques and Valéria Coribelli

Today (19/11) is International Women's Entrepreneurship Day. The date is an initiative to encourage women who create and run their own businesses.

To celebrate this date, we had the honour of interviewing Simone Marques, from VR Benefícios and Valéria Coribelli, from ViVa Cidade News.

1 - Why is it important to stimulate female entrepreneurship?

Simone Marques: I consider it important to encourage female entrepreneurship because women bring a broad and differentiated look compared to the male bias, having a more comprehensive and empathetic approach. A business run by a woman can have a greater focus on customer desire and expectation, with a more intense demand on details and quality.

Valeria Coribelli: Entrepreneurship does not suit all personalities. It requires a vocation. For those who have this vocation it is important to be stimulated and to put it into practice, because it is a way of communicating with the world.

2 - What are the main challenges for a woman entrepreneur?

Simone Marques: Faced with a culture that is still very macho, the woman has as great challenges the demonstration of her intellectual and technical capacity, as well as the security of her emotion, the management of her family life and the search to maintain her femininity, always preserving the inspiration not to become brutal and give up her great objectives.

Valeria Coribelli: When people underestimate a woman's ability and strength to turn the game around and succeed.

3 - What is the impact on the corporate culture of a women-led organisation?

Simone Marques: Basically, it tends to have people as the central and most valuable focus for a corporation. The woman is very clear that the result is achieved when you invest in people and have them happy and motivated to face the challenges of a world in accelerated transformation.

Valéria Coribelli: Sensitivity and feminine instinct allow us to navigate in any situation and circumstances.

4 - What tips can you give to women who wish to become entrepreneurs?

Simone Marques: Never give up, trust in your beliefs, goals and know how to listen to your intuition.

Valéria Coribelli: Participating in the daily construction of your business, moving through all the areas and sharing your knowledge with your team.
