PIX via payment transaction initiation service

The Central Bank has published BCB Resolution 118 creating a new form of participation: the initiator, aimed at financial institutions or other institutions authorised to provide the initiation service and which have, within the scope of the PIX, the exclusive objective of providing the payment transaction initiation service.

In addition to participants acting in the initiator mode, the PIX initiation service may be offered by financial or payment institutions authorised by the Central Bank that participate in PIX in the transactional account provider mode, provided they are certified in the Open Banking framework.

Additionally, a new procedure has been added for initiating a PIX via the payment transaction initiation service in cases where the participant has all the information of the receiving user.

All procedures for initiating a PIX may be used to initiate a PIX via the payment transaction initiation service. The implementation will follow the following schedule:

-30/08/21: manual insertion and PIX key
-30/09/21: directly by the institution providing the induction service
-01/11/21: Static and dynamic QR Code

Also, from 1 November, it will be possible to make an appointment from the beginning.

The initiation service on PIX shall occur when the institution providing the initiation service is different from the institution holding the account of the paying user. For PIX to be done from the initiation service, it will be
necessary that the user gives consent to the sharing of the service, this step is governed by the rules defined under Open Banking.
